Political Polls with a Twist

Political Polls designed to measure political views and attitudes in a more honest way

Campaign Report Cards allows you to grade the political parties, candidates, and outside groups during every campaign season.  Due to feedback from our visitors, we decided that we would open up this new section that opens up polling – but with a twist.  These polls are what you might wish the major political polling companies would publish, but don’t.  Here is your chance to weigh in on some very interesting topics.

Political Poll # 1: In many states, citizens can vote for either political party in the presidential primary.  The voter can therefore vote either for his or her own candidate, or for the candidate he or she wants his or her candidate to face.  In other words, if you felt that the candidate in your own party was guaranteed the nomination, you could choose instead to vote for the person in the opposing party you hope to face.  Of course this is not the spirit of how our election system is set up; rather the system is set up this way because there is a presumption that people will not want to always vote for the candidate in their own party.  That said, regardless of the spirit of the set up, voting for the other side is certainly possible.  Our first poll with a twist is based on this fact:

Would you consider voting for the other party in the primary election if your vote would help choose a weaker candidate for that party, making it easier for your “real” candidate to win?

Would you vote in the other political party's primary for the reason noted above

Political Poll # 2: What would stop you from voting for a candidate who matches you as far as your opinions on important issues?  For some, the issues may trump the politicians actions or ethics because their legislation on the issues will be so vital.  For others the candidates morals are vital and even with a match as far as issue position the candidate will not get their vote if he or she has made certain decisions.  And of course there are many opinions in between.  So what would a candidate have to do to not get your vote when you are considering who to vote for for political office?

If you thought a candidate was a perfect match for you on the politcal issues, what would still prevent you from voting for him or her?

Political Poll # 3: Many people find that they are voting as much against the other candidate(s) as for their own candidate in each election.  In fact, recent polling has suggested that this phenomena has increased over the years as people have become more frustrated with both political parties.  In this poll we ask you to describe your average experience in each election – when you vote, do you tend to vote for your candidate or against the other.  It may change during each election season, but try to answer with what you feel is your average reaction when you vote in each major election.

Do you generally vote for your candidate or against another candidate?
